Assistant to the Controller — Elysium (Real Estate Finance)

Apply Now
Hybrid

Elysium is pioneering the future of human living through a new category: experiential real estate communities. These are buildouts that leverage scale, density, supply-chain optimization, and innovative construction technology in order to engineer asymmetric experience-to-cost environments.

Think: living system where housing, food, energy, mobility, and a city OS meet.

That kind of build demands something rare: financial truth, every week, without drama.
This role is for someone who takes pride in clean work, tight process, and catching mistakes before they become expensive.

If you're a master of numbers who gets satisfaction from a reconciled ledger and a perfect close folder, this is for you.

What you’ll do (what this role actually is)

You’ll be the Controller’s right hand. Your work will touch construction draws, job cost accounting, month-end close, lender reporting support, and audit readiness.

You will help run:

  • AP processing + coding (job cost coding accuracy matters here)
  • Vendor onboarding, W-9s, COIs, and payment workflows
  • Invoice matching (POs / contracts / approvals) where applicable
  • Lien waiver tracking and draw-package support (collecting, organizing, verifying)
  • Reconciliations (bank, credit cards, vendor statements)
  • Close support: schedules, backups, variance notes, documentation
  • Maintaining a “no surprises” documentation system (folders, naming conventions, audit trail)

This is a startup, so you’ll also do the unglamorous thing extremely well: make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

What success looks like

  • Invoices are coded correctly, approved correctly, and paid on time.
  • Draw packages are complete and clean—no missing waivers, no scramble.
  • Close is smooth because your schedules are already prepared.
  • The Controller trusts you like a second brain.

Who you are (bar-raiser, even for this role)

We’re building a top 1% core. This role is junior in title, not in standards.

Required

  • 2–5+ years in accounting/AP (real estate, construction, or project-based accounting preferred)
  • Comfortable with:
    • invoice workflows
    • vendor management
    • reconciliations
    • spreadsheets that actually tie out
  • High attention to detail + high speed
  • You naturally write things down, follow a checklist, and close loops

Strongly preferred

  • Exposure to:
    • job cost accounting
    • construction draws / pay apps
    • lien waivers
    • month-end close support
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Yardi, or similar)

The personality fit

  • You don’t need reminders.
  • You don’t “hope” it’s right—you verify.
  • You like building systems, not just doing tasks.
  • You take pride in being quietly indispensable.

  • A 1-minute video recording (one take, unscripted — without reading; script reading won’t be entertained)
